My goodness, thinking of relocating towards the end of the year to Dubai, company will pay a small amount towards accomodation, we will need a 3 bedroom, preferrably a villa/townhouse soits not too different for the kids i.e. still be able to play out in the back etc, have been searching the net and have not been able to find anything other than apartments, do you think it will be better if we get out there in person to find somewhere? do the prices on the net seem about right yikes lol

A 3-bed villa for 150k? Sorry, not in Dubai. A 2-bed apartment is about 120k now, and remember that you have to pay your rent a year upfront.

120k for a 2 bed is pushing it a bit. colleague on mine just paid 135K on SZR.

I suppose at a push we could opt for a 2 bedroom, but would prefer a house type setting i.e villa/townhome what do you think the chances are for under 150k aed

Nope, you still won't get anything for 150k in Dubai. The cheap end for villas is now about 200k.

2 bed townhouses at the ranches (al reem) are generally still under 150k, as are a few palmeras.

On top of that though remember 5% agent fees, then the 5% (spread over 12 months) 'housing fee' paid monthly with your electric/water bill

witha bit of luck you'll get a 3 bed in Mirdiff for 150,000. If you can stretch to 175k then you'll get a three bed in Mirdiff no problem. As othes have said dont forget to add 10% to the total cost between agents fee and council tax

Ah, so when it's said that they're "available" at that price, what it actually means is "you might get one at that price if you happen to be looking at the right time with the wind blowing south-south-west and the sun reflecting off the Burj at an angle of precisely 47.3 degrees"...

yes but still worth looking though, but you could end up getting 'the letter' and only be in it for a couple of years

what makes me laugh with renting here is that few people actually get off their arse and trawl round the actual place where they want to live looking for to rent signs.

Instead they go to better homes and pay 20% more...
