Oman - Muscat Schools Question

Hello to all a newbie question I hope you can help! :fingerscrossed:

Husband and I, and 2 little ones 5 & 10 are heading off to Muscat shortly and I just wanted some advice on the International Schools available there?

We have popped kids on the waiting lists for, BSM, TAISM, ABA ,RFS and MIS....

Things are heading in the right direction and just wondered if anyone can give me a brief rundown on quality of education at BSM and RFS as these are the two most likely have places available?

Any pleasant thoughts on Muscat living will of course be gratefully received!

Hi - maybe there is not many expats on here in Muscat? Does anyone know of another forum worth putting this question on? The omanforum seems to no longer exist.

Afterthought - expatwoman forum probably a good one?

Re: Oman - Muscat Schools Question

As you rightly surmise the OmanForum has shut down but you could look at expatwoman oman forum but it really is very quiet. On the right hand side of the home page though are several general info sections and there are a couple about schools. Sorry, don't have children so can't help on that front.

A blog which you may find interesting is "MuscatMutterings" - lots of historical posts with general, information about living in Muscat in particular and Oman in general. Another blog is "Oman Coast" but this one has been quiet since mid June - still some good info there though.

Muscat is a great place to live, especially in the cooler months - there is so much beautiful country to explore and enjoy - and, of course, if you miss the bright lights and nightlife then Dubai is only a short flight or a five hour drive away.

Re: Oman - Muscat Schools Question

hiya. Both are really good schools. My son went to BSM (just left) and did brilliantly in his exams. I think it comes down to where you are living. We lived at the Wave which is a bit of a hike to BSM, RFS is a lot closer. I believe both have waiting lists so that may solve the decision for you!
