Site of the now Muqta bridge and old watch tower.
I remember helping to excavate the stone age remains of dwellings just on the far bank on the right hand side, similar structures to Skara Brae in Shetland.

"Taken from the roof of the BP Arabian Agency Depot Engineer's house, this shows his depot and not too far away the famouse Beach Hotel. This was located where the old Corniche hospital is now. We are looking towards the town (village) and the port road that was later constructed would be running a bit to the left of the picture. "

it is cool and maybe if a few of the current generation had used a torch to read by instead of a 40,000,000MW generator things might not be so ****ed up these days

That photo 'speaks' volumes and is great testimony to the romantic notion that this guy was truly an anthropologist and alright dude.

Skara Brae is in the Orkneys. You are thinking of Jarlshoff in the Shetlands.
