OK, having 2 EW moments and both relating to leather
Need to find someone who can repair (read rebuild) a Chesterfield leather reclining chair. Guess my reclines are not as subtle as they should be and the sub frame is slightly(!) less robust than it was. Any suggestions on where I can have this rebuilt. Names, addresses, telephone numbers, email address and location would be useful.
And secondly, I need someone who can stitch leather. Just bought a cool new bike vest on tinternet that is less accommodating than it should be (bloody american sizing).
So, there you go; your challenge should you accept it is to find me the answers to these critical questions and prove that BEME is not as useless as some people are saying (not me, of course).

Jeez, just like EW, two responses from women...both of no use at all. Go on, pretend I'm Spugsy and do some research.

Why don't you just register on EW and ask your questions there?

Because leather is so pliable, (especially wet leather) you can change its shape and size. The basic principal is to make the leather moist (not soaked) and apply heat or cold.
For example, leather specialists will use extreme heat followed by extreme cold to coax torn leather back to its original shape and position before they apply adhesive when repairing tears. A commercial stripping gun and a decent size of metal that has been in the refrigerator are recommended,

So basically, wait until summer in Dubai, use vaseline to squeeze into your (lovely) outfit, douse in liquid (maybe beer) and sit in the sun for 5 hours. The leather will relax to your new shape.

I don't know specifics, but I would have thought a cruise round Karama would result in finding a furniture upholsterers.

Hah, a sensible answer, at last. Soon as I can get into my new vest I'll do just that. Might be a bit difficult loading the chair onto the pillion but I'll figure out something.
