Hi I have just been offered a job in Dubai by a UK company. The contract offered shows just the salary 300 000 AED, a chance to join company's health insurance, but not much else. I got 3 kids one of them will do A-levels this autumn, one will do next year and my 3rd kid is still in primary. I always thought the benefits will be included into the contract. I am willing to negotiate, but do benefits differ this much from company to company(UK companies)? Are there those who basically give just the salary and you fend for yourself?

Yep: they range from, at one extreme, the "feather-bed" packages where you get salary and the company pays separately (and often directly) for pension, flights, accommodation, schooling, club memberships ad infinitum, to, at the other extreme, "there's a lump of cash and that's all we're giving you, go and sort everything out yourself" packages. About the only thing that's mandatory for the company to provide is medical cover.
If you have the latter, plenty of people manage it successfully, but be prepared to have to expend time and energy in getting everything organised. Personally I think companies who expect their employees to manage all the set up AND do their job are nuts, but then I'm not in HR...

Thanks for info! Never mind organising, I wonder if my quality of life will improve there, with all the expenditure on rent, schools...

You will spend at least 150,000 AED on school fees, probably closer to 175,000.
Rent for a three bedroom flat in a decent area start at 90,000. Villas are more expensive. Then there's utilities, groceries, cars, entertainment.
The cost of living in Dubai is comparable to central London + school fees + health care for the family + flights home. Dubai is a place where to maintain a basic middle class lifestyle you need to have the expenditures and income of an upper middle class family in the UK.
Not worth it. You simply can't do it. It's a snort, laugh and forget it offer.

many thanks for your help. are the benefits included into the main contract or they maybe contained in a supplementary agreement?

Oh, and your offer is probably less than half of what you will need.

25,000dhs a month!! No housing or school fees..not a chance darling, especially with 2 teenage kids in senior school ..if you had 25,000 a month with housing, schools, medical and flights for the family holidays paid then maybe you could just about survive, but you would also have to spend a lot on transporting your kids to after school stuff and playdates etc..and my friends tell me that teenagers cost a lot to maintain here!
Also, if you are working you would need a maid to look after your kids until you got home.
Really forget it darling..the offer is crap!
