Default offer confusing me?? Abu dhabi

Hi Guys,

i am engineer (5 yrs experience) and received an offer which says on the contract Grade 20? Does that mean anything to you guys?? Its confusing me?

Also i would like any views on the offer given to me
salary is 14000 dir + 5500 dir for accommodation +utilities+ air flights

How does this offer sound? It looks like a graduate package to me i don't know why??

By the way, the initial package was 12000 basic and i manged to emial them and negotiate that extra bit(2,000) but then i emailed them and asked them for the 2nd time to review the package and i have not heard back from them yet and it has been a week already so im already starting to get worried that they may have just rejected me totally. Please share you views with me!!

Thanks for your help in advance

Its sounds like a local contract. Abu Dhabi Property i more expensive than Dubai... renting wise.... plus rent goes up on average of 7%....per year. If you can get them to give you accomodation that would be better. Other wise you will be sharing.... no chance of you getting a place for that much..

With regards to your salary, you should look for what you are getting in UK Gross + 10% tax free + accomodation+utilities+flight

Hi

This salary formula you have come up with does not compute across the board.

How did you come up with it?

The most important part to negotiate on is the housing allowance. Research the local market so that you have something tangible to negotiate with. If this completely covers rent, you will have a tax free salary that will give you significantly more spending power than the same salary would give you in the UK.
Negotiating is an Art. Example, they offer you 50k for rent, you say "well
50k could not get me a house anywhere near the work place" then let them know that you have researched property prices and trends in nearby areas, give an example of a specific property. Then say "Traffic will increase my journey time to work by around 1 hour min, so by the time i arrive i will have already spent 1 hour stuck in a car under the blazing sun, whereas a place nearby will allow me to arrive feeling fresh, motivated and ready for the days work". Mention also that in the UK you are not used to sharing and ideally would like your own space so that you can work from home after hours (stress to meet deadlines etc, so they don't give you extra work) Mention that you have a family etc.

If the type of position you are applying for is taken up by Asian workers, then i suggest you apply for a position above your current role. Eg, sales man to sales manager etc.

Hi

There does not seem to be a norm in how salaries are configured. I get 50% of salary as allowances to spend as I like. I work in real estate.

correct..

your gratuity will be calculated on your basic salary.

So if you get a basic plus accom allowance plus car allowance plus plus plus etc the gratuity will only be paid on your base salary

however

if they give you an all inclusive salary (i.e you fund all the above yourself) your gratuity is based on the salary, i.e a lot more..

NOTE: from experience (indirect) be very careful how your contract is actually worded with regard to this and also, the local contract that you sign for the municipality, ensure that this is also accurate..
