Remember that booze is expensive and it is also illegal to be drunk or show affection in public. Most hotels have guidelines in the rooms. Pick up your booze allowance at duty free ..5 bottles of wine per person, mini bars are also expensive

Dress codes for most restaurants in the hotels are smart/casual, which for the guys usually means no sandals or flipflops and no shorts.

The big bus tour is an excellent way of seeing the city

I believe the actual allowance is 4 litres of wine (which is equivalent to 5 bottles) or 4 litres of spirits or presumably any combination of these as long as it's not more than 4 litres in total.

I think Barasti would be right up your street. I'm not being nasty, in fact I like the place: I blend in like an elephant in a cherry tree.

(Barasti is a sprawling bar near Dubai Marina--all the taxi drivers know it. Mixed crowd, but mostly young. Half price on Mondays--G&Ts at AED16, which is cheap for Dubai.)

Beer is 4x12 33cl cans. That equates to just under 16 Liters. I know because thats what i get everytime i come through.
