NYE In Dubai, Suggestions Please
Just wanted to go our for a few drinks and see in the bells with Mr Lanark, but it appears almost everywhere is looking for a nasty entrance fee, that I'm not really willing to pay.
Any ideas on where might be doing a more relaxed version of NYE for a reasonable sum?

Stay home darling..The traffic is horrendous and it is impossible to get a taxi home.
Or you can drive down to the public beach at Jumeirah, go early. Put some booze in a flask or coke bottle. pick up a pizza on your way. Wrap up warm. take a blanket or a couple of folding chairs and watch the fireworks from the beach.

I agree with Patsy. Avoid all big organised events. They'll be rammed, full of fools and you'll never get a cab. Either stay home or stick to parties with friends.
Personally, I loathe NYE. Too much forced jollity and too many amateur partygoers.

Was just kinda hoping that since there are so many places down here on the marina that are within walking distance there might have been somewhere to go, still I don't mind staying in, it sounds like it might be better

Go anywhere that does not involve getting a taxi home. Two years ago we ended up walking from The Westin to The Palm, not a nice experience.

Yup. Stay in
I fly back to the sandpit overnight tonight. Having a quiet hogmany and going to ride my bike at 6am on New Year's morning. Then we are all going out for a family brunch.
The thought of being crammed into a bar full of idiots on NYE does not float my boat..been there, done that.
Yet again, I am the romantic that takes my wife out for valentines dinner on the 15th cause its cheaper

Watch the Burj Khalifa firework display on your own 42 inch TV with a glass of wine in hand. Saves on babysitting expenses too.

I can see the Burj Khalifa from the front balcony of our villa and the Burj al Arab from the back one, so we can see both sets from the comfort of our home.
