Hi all, I have an old banger which is up for renewal at the end of this month and don't really have any intention of renewing the insurance etc (as the car hasn't started in 3 months!) There is about 5k worth of fines on the car which I will pay when scraping but my little run around. AM I going to incur some crazy penalty if I don't do this straight away? Please let me know! Thanks HIH P.S I know of a great little 11 year old Audi A3 for sale!

there is a fine of 50 dhs per month for each month the vehicle remains unregistered

It would go without saying too it's best (whenever it's fixed) not to drive it around but straight to the scrapyard!

You get a months grace period before you need to register the car so that will take you to the end of march.
You can't sell a car over 10 years old any more.

so where is this beloved scrap yard!?!? we kind of forgot about the bloody thing until the police called us last night!! I am guessing we have to pay the fines before we get it scrapped???? I was told that you can still sell the car if you bought it before it was 10 years old? No too fussed as it's only worth AED2000 but that is most of the fine paid off....

they are cracking down on unregistered cars, and the fine i think, it was on the radio but not very clear is 600 and then 200 if you didnt insurance it.
