Noor Islamic Bank?

I know 4 or 5 people who work for them. Seems like quite an ambitious bank. Not too sure about the actual details of the packages but they've moved there from local banks and seem happy with the increases.

What area are you considering?

In general I'd say yay!

well banking is good market to get into, so even if it does go tits-up you shouldn't find it too hard to get something else having GCC experience... (assuming it didn't go under because of you) lol

Hi Indie Girl,

Salary is always a good indicator - how are the packages made up ? is housing included or do they give you a separate package ? Other benefits?

Risk working with a new bank ? Location ? Good areas to stay in nearby ?

Sorry for all the ?'s - if I do get hired,a starbucks latte is on me..!

Noor is ultimately owned by Sheikh Mohammad, they have aggressive strategy for expansion including outside of the Middle East.

I know of two locations:

1) Emaar Business Park (next to the Greens)
2) Burj Dubai

So anything with good access to the Sheikh Zayed Road would be fine.

While it is more risky working for a new venture, there may be more opportunity to grow (as the bank grows). I know that at least a couple of the Group Directors are ex-Citibank.

Good luck, Tenant

Hi SRR,

Packages typically include:

Basic
Housing allowance (only the top management are provided with housing if at all.)
Education
Utilities
Club
Travel

I was approached by a headhunter for a pretty senior position, but wasnt interested - because I got a fantastic break within my company and moreover, I wasn't keen on a new bank (and I didn't have any Islamic banking experience).

I know a lot of peeps (non-muslims) who have moved there and are happy with the packages (they were on pretty good packages - think around 50k+) and the work culture.

Check their website for location, not sure.

Cheers. Am off to the airport..... will be in Dubai soon

Some more news here:

Dubai Holding on Sunday launches Noor Islamic Bank (NIB) to tap the region's growing oil wealth and meet the increasing needs of Sharia-compliant products.

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dh3.67 billion ($1 billion) Islamic lender, will unveil the details at a press conference today, followed by the opening of its first branch tomorrow.

NIB, the new Sharia-compliant bank in which Dubai Holding is a shareholder, plans to hire 1,200 people in the first year of operations, a company spokeswoman said.

The bank has hired 400 staff before its launch tomorrow. Noor will start functioning with a network of six branches in Dubai.

What you really need is the ex-Group Treasurer of Dubai Holding - who worked there when the whiole thing was conceived and rolled out - to make a comment...... see if you can find out who it is, and get in touch.

I think everyone knows the attraction of Dubai. I myself turned down 2 offers as I'm trying to get into Noor Bank. The chance to get into a startup bank comes seldom - anyone got any contacts besides the ones on the Noor website?

Am sure they will offer competative rates of pay etc. However, keep in mind your job may be less secure working for a GCC bank as the banking sector is one of the first they look at when considering nationalisation.
