I must agree... the government is pretty disorganized.
Let's just hope this is the final announcement on the subject.
I'm looking forward to retaining my low rent price in 2009/10. ; )

we just got our new contract in AD...5% increase and we have been here for what will be our 4th year ................

We're deffo going to move, we have 2 months left but how does it work? Do we just tell the landlord we're leaving when our year is up? Someone told me we have to give them 45 days notice?

Just tell him you are not renewing, do it in writing, send it by fax/post/pigeon as well. If possible, get someone from his office to sign a copy or confirm receipt in writing.
If you don't give enough notice, you remain liable for the rent until he finds a tenant.

sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong, but I think the legal requirement for dubai is 60 days.
