Default New Tram Project

Apologies if this has already been discussed on here but I had no idea until now that they are constructing a 15km tramway costing AED4billion linking MOE with Madinat Jumeirah and Dubai Marina and JBR incorporating 19 stations with links to the new Metro line. Sounds like a very good idea.

No...no-one will use it.

I mean, they'll never put in an integrated transport network.

There appears to be tram projects for a lot of the new(er) developments that link to the metro. I guess that's the way they hope people will get to the metro stations.

Good news for the tourism industry, perhaps.

I think you need to go back to bed and start your day again tomorrow. You are beginning to get as pessimistic as yours truly...and there I was trying to be up-beat and cheerful today, despite having broken my zipper and thus being effectively tied to my desk for the afternoon.

that tram route runs through one of the most sparcely populated areas of the city. not many people live between MOE and the Marina.

It runs from a heavily populated area (Marina) through a large commuter routes (Media City) and three tourist areas (Burj Al Arab, MoE and Madinat)

It will also link up directly with the monorail network on the Palm and the Metro stations in the marina, Jumeirah Beach residences and MoE

I'm amazed anyone could be cynical about this.

well the cynical seem to be in the majority when it comes to Public transport in Dubai.

If they had really cared about solving the problems here they would have linked Sharjah to Dubai by rail/metro.

But as these are federal moves and not part of a government plan, why should they??

It's not Dubai's fault.

just the kind of thinking that doesnt solve the problem.

taking all the sharjah cars off dubai roads would help Dubai.
