BSAK do very well at sixth form, they do send kids to oxbridge etc but also the us as there are many different nationalities so they dont all opt for uk uni's. bsak's sixth form has been around a few years now, and they do pretty well, the only thing is that the subjects may be limited compared to the uk, but then if they do your subjects then surely it doesnt matter. yasmina have just opened the sixth form this year, but is only year 12 and so there is no track record yet. if people have lived over here for a while, they quite often send the kids home to get better choice but also to try and "ground" them back in to the uk life etc ready for university. by moving over here you wouldnt be sacrificing her chances of a good university. its a brit sch and they slot right back in when moving back.

no not always, the ones that have gone from our school have usually got home status, but there are a lot of other factors, and technically you should send them back 3 years before hand those are the rules.

hello,
We got offers of places for our two kids (6 and 3) from al Muna school, Pearl school, BISA and shikh Zayed Academy. Could you help us to make a choice taking into account school level, location (my work will be near Corniche), cost of rent near the school ...
Thanks in advance!

Since you are working at the corniche go for Al Muna or Pearl. Both are alder academies and are very good. The teaching staff will be mostly from the UK and the class sizes are quite small. My kids went to al muna and I was happy with it - the lower years are very popular with Emiratis but there's more of a mix in the older years. The head teacher was excellent - not sure if he is still there. My son was in year 3 and there were only 13 in his class so he thrived there and made very good friends from all over the world. It was a bit more international than his school in Dubai which was a good thing in my eyes.
Usually heads are accommodated - is it an alder school you will be working in? If so they should put you in one of their buildings. I lived in Aldar's khalidiya Towers and the senior staff of the on-island schools lived there too. Nothing like a threat of "let's just pop to your headmaster then" to get homework done.
If you lived in Al Nayhan camp (see another post), you could walk to pearl school... You need top whack on the housing though. Don't rule out apartment living - you'll have less utility bills (or none in some cases) and many have great pools on the roofs/gardens etc. Abu dhabi is a walkable city (in the cooler months) and I would recommend living as close to the centre/corniche as you can. More interesting and adds to the fun of living in a new place.

Thanks for your help. What is the average rent for a three bed room flat near al muna primary school? is it possible to rent furnished properties?
