New job

Hi folks,

Hope you can help me with a few q's i have.

I am a young scottish guy (23), who may be moving to Sharjah in the next few months.

The job I may be moving to has a salary around 7500 a month. Is this enough? I will be getting my accom and bills paid for me.

My other question relates to my social life. Will there be many ex-pats around my age? How long does it take to get to dubai? Taxi cost sharjah to Dubai?

Sorry to bombard you but hopefully someone can help.

Thanks for your time

Steve

As your accom & bills will be paid in addition to your salary & by the sound of it you have no dependants, I would say the salary you've been offered should be more than ample.

Can't say I know too much about Sharjah as I live in Dubai, but I do know the roads from Sharjah to Dubai are HORRENDOUS at rush hour. If you're living AND working in Sharjah you should be OK & I would seriously watch when you decide to travel between the 2. Other times of day & weekends are fine.

Don't know much about about young single ex-pats either I'm afraid as I'm an old married one! Hopefully someone else can step in & answer all you need to know on that point for you. I would imagine that most socialising would be in Dubai as Sharjah is dry, but I could be wrong.

Hope you get more info & enjoy the move here - you would have to drag me kicking & screaming back to Scotland!!

Yep your salary seems fine but if you want to be with the expat community you need to be Dubai as sharjah is the most religious of the 7 emirates, which poses a problem to what expats normally do for fun. You can get to Dubai by taxi for 15-30 dirhams or else take the Dubai Transport buses for 5 dirhams, but these buses will only take you to specific places. Well depending on where you live in Sharjah it may take 10-20 minutes to get to where you would want in Dubai. More info on transportation in the UAE can be found here. Enjoy :D
