My current role had the option of being based either up north and/or in London. The salary difference between the two was 35% but due to living costs I took the lower pay offer.

despire the tax savings in play : I could
make the 30% increase by moving to london and/or acquiring a written offer. It’s not a deal breaker but even potential moves to the likes of dubai i was looking at increases of 50-60% based on my current annual base. However I am very keen on neom due to a number of reasons.

has anyone had an exception where they have managed to negotiate more, you don’t need to say rhe % increase you got
if it makes u more comfortable.

as someone pointed an increase in a riyadh salary vs northern England look
very different ; potentially for a very similar job. This is life though.

how about annual increases and bonuses ; how are people doing there.

My experience so far is that they dont care about other offers. Unless you are in the role and earning X amount then forget about anything else.

There are exceptions though, as mentioned above, but I assume those are for very senior/specialist positions so maybe you will be one of those lucky people.

I think there is around 2-3% annual increase and 20-30% bonus which is all performance related.

Agree with the statement about teenage kids. I dont think I would even take them to Riyadh never mind the desert.
And it's up to the prospective employee to decide whether the offer is worth it to them or not. The same salary could mean different things to different people depending on their circumstances. But the bottom line is that no one should be going to KSA for anything other than money, unless Muslim of course but that's different.

My kids went to primary school in Riyadh and I have to say it's a great life for them socially. Different compounds every week with parties for the parents, and the whole compound for the kids to run around in with all the other compounds kids.

As they get older though, it's preferable IMO for them to have a more normal teenage experience. So they left a few years back.

Senior Manager - 45000 to 70000
Director - 70000 to 100000

Remember, they are basing them off previous salary, alot of people are moving from roles in the west where salaries are just average e.g. Northern England. If youre lucky youre moving from a Riyadh salary.

Example: Senior Manager in England earning £60k, with the 25% uplift they will be offered a total salary package of SAR 31,375 (based on £1 = SAR 5.02).

I dont know if they then uplift it into the salary range baed on the grade of the new role.

I don’t believe that breakdown is correct. I don’t know the full details but can tell you based on multiple sources that Senior Manager starts from
SAR 65,000. Manager probably from SAR40,000. Based on that, Directors likely to start from
SAR90,000.

Also - every organisation in the UK or anywhere else have different hierarchies etc. SM at £60k looks like an inflated title to me, but depends on the size/structure of the organisation.

Yeah, it was purely a guess/estimate based on the snippets of information I have been told.

Thanks both. It’s always hard nailing down this type of information so good to hear there’s potential for a little higher.

I’m going for an SM role so bottom end of the newer range is exactly what I am after and despite a lower home salary hopefully a bump to the lower end of neom range will get me where I need and bypass the 30% in a way.

fingers crossed!!

Is there a hardship bonus to the salary package? Our remote condition offers a blanket 20% hardship bonus and an extra months pay as a retention bonus, which isn't all that great tbh, but that's ontop of a healthy salary not based on any percentage of previous pay.

Not that I'm aware of. There are a few perks in the package though like monthly flights, I think to anywhere in Saudi (lol). But all meals cooked for you, free cleaning and laundry are perks too... glad I don't have to do any of that that for the time being.

Folks, let’s say I’ll be acclimatising to the heat. I tend to visit dubai quite often and have managed three weeks out there in peak summer (the type of heat where if u sit in the car which hasn’t been in the shade - you can fry an egg on the seat let alone the bonnet).

How do the buses work from NC1, do they have AC. I am having visions of standing about in crazy summer heat and then onto a bus did 30-45min each way per day.

does anyone decide to drive themselves between the two for independence - I actually enjoy driving myself too but I know it would just be a wasteful expense.

some of the cars u can set the ac to come on before u even get in.

The buses I have seen coming in and out of NC1 are all modern buses with AC.
I know of one or two people who use the department cars to self-drive between NC1 and NC2 but I'm not sure it's the best option as the cars are meant to be shared amongst all employees in the department.

Cheers, that’s a relief.
Is neom a bit cooler than the likes of Jeddah dubai riyadh etc.

I noticed that in tabuk it’s snowing currently haha. That was a Surprise.

I’d probably end up looking to acquire my own car just for the freedom of being able to do stuff at weekend without reliance on others for car sharing but that’s a whole other thread potentially and will wait to investigate that one too deeply - need to get the job first haha

First time posting so any help is greatly appreciated

Role: Sr. Procurement Specialist

I was approached by an agency recuiting for the NEOM project about a role as a Sr. Procurement Specialist, that was a month ago. So I deciced to send my CV (yesterday) and within a day they replied complimenting it (CV) and offering an interview.

Question: Is anyone here working in Sourcing at NEOM? How was the interview and its style? Laidback or too formal? Thing like that.... any intel is good intel.

Abt me (professionally)
  • 8 years Indirect Procurement Experience
  • Current Employer: Major US Telecomm (Market Cap >$200B)
  • Category Spend Under my direct management: ~$100M
  • Current Gross Salary (excl. benefits): €80K - €90k
Any ideas on what I should aim for, salary wise?
When I was asked what I was looking for, I wrote SAR 33K - SAR 36K but am starting to believe it should be more.

My understanding about the formula "current salary + 30%" is as follows... Current Annual gross salary (Euros) + 30% = Monthly Salary (SAR).

E.g..: If your current gross salary is 60.000 Euros/year, what they are offering is a 30% increase that turns into 78.000 SAR/month. So your new salary will be 78.000 SAR/month = 18.400 Euros/month.

Is that correct? Please let me know if I'm wrong.
