thanks. I am just wondering that roles are not defined and will sort out later based on payslips/calculation.
is this a normal way of doing things in NEOM?

Newcastle, thats great, You're going to the right country haha!

On another note, do you mind telling me how did you get an uplift of 80% what was the offer in SAR? I heard the maximum they offer is 25% on your current salary?

Cheers

It was 25% uplift but ive included my relocation on my figures. Obviously tax free now as well, well it will be once the new tax year starts.

not going to lie. Another reason I was interested since the Saudis overtook my team. Perhaps get over to the winter camp they have out there now

Hi all, first time for me on here. I was hoping i could get some info - i have read through most of the threads - just wanted some updated info.

I have been offered a role with NEOM, had the interview, had an offer in an email, waiting for the conditional contract then on the back of this i will go through to onboarding to upload play slips, degree certified etc and once this is approved, i will then get the final contract for signing which will enable me to put my notice in at my current work place.

I have been told there is no accommodation available at NC2 so i will be put up in a hotel in Duba and then commuting from there everyday. Can someone let me know what is Duba like- what can you do etc and what hotels are people staying in?

Thanks

The whole process could take 2-3 months so I'd say it's too early to judge accomodation availablility. If you're working in NC1/2 then Duba is last resort, and usually only for a short period, due to the distance.
You can explore what is around Duba on Google maps. Shops, restaurants, some heritage sights.

Hi.
Welcome and congratulations!
You may not be with your team immediately, but you won’t be alone. You’ll get to know your fellow residents on bus rides and most people are in the same situation so, they’ll “get it”
I’ve also been told most of the Oxagon community members living further afield do a good job of looking out for each other— especially through WhatsApp groups and the like. I made it to Oxagon in time to live in camp, but chat to my friends who are living outside and they see to be bearing up well.
Good luck!

just out of interest how did you get to meet your team before starting the job? did you know them before you got there or did you arrange to meet them before joining?

it would be good to know as id like to meet the team before joining.

hope things got sorted for you?

Hi guys,

I’m going through the final stages of onboarding and was wondering if anyone can share the daily transport commute between the various camps.

I’m joining Oxagon pending visa process, I’ll there in November and believe will be based in one of the outside Neom apartments.

Are there daily bus shuttle between the camps and the apartments?

How far are the offices from the bus stops Oxagon, NC1 / NC2 ?

From the bus stops to the offices, does Neom provide shuttle like golf buggies to the offices or nearby areas including dining halls / gyms etc ? Considering in the summer months, it can be over 40 degrees, so wondering how people cope with the daily commute with no aircon

Asking these questions to ensure I’m fully prepared for the daily commute as I’m not getting any answers from onboarding plus due to mobility issue, may need to consider bringing a scooter.

any pictures of the buses or details of the daily internal commute would be appreciated. Thanks,

there are multiple daily buses between accomodation, communities, hospital and airports, with reduced services on weekends. Typically uses coach style buses, quite a new fleet all operated by SAPTCO. They provide a good service and usually run to schedule.

For distance from bus stops, you can check google maps which shows the bus stop at NC1, and the offices above (large white rectangle buildings).
Oxagon is small and the buses stop next to the offices.
NC2 the buses stop outside and its a walk to the offices, but maps isnt updated for that area yet.

There are shuttle buggies at NC1 and NC2, but often takes longer to get these due to route and frequency. Many people use electric scooters or bikes, both which you can buy here. Electric scooters cant be transported by passenger aircraft.

Worth noting that NEOM region is cooler than others in GCC. Its very pleasant for much of the year, and only a couple of months of intense heat. For example its 34 today, wearing jeans and polo, and won't sweat unless standing in the sun for an extended period. Find shade or walk with breaks in aircon buildings and its fine.

Many thanks, that’s very helpful. Experienced the wider GCC region and was expecting unpleasant weather in summer moths but it sounds like Neom is much cooler. Great to have the opportunity to walk thru some air-con buildings then… or at least the option for a buggy or buy a scooter locally. Very helpful.

Do they provide cars for management or is this expected you purchase direct?

Yes scooters are very popular, and they can be easily purchased from Lulu supermarket in NC1 or online.

There's no formal policy for cars. There are hundreds of departmental shared cars but it's not well managed. I.e. who is issued a car, who is on the insurance, how time is shared equally etc. Some departments have setup their own car sharing/booking system. Some people are selfish and don't make an effort to share at all.

Because it's such a bane and expense, I expect an improved car sharing system will be introduced at some point. There is an app for booking EVs only, and from what I've heard it works quite well. Issue there is charging infrastructure but will also improve over time.

You're also free to purchase own vehicle, and its pretty convenient for the flexibility, and used cars tend to hold their value quite well. Most cars are offroad capable so can reach the beach.

Hi again! Just preparing for the move in a few short weeks from the UK. I was hoping that the group could offer advise on the following, as I will be living in NC2!

1. For contact lens prescriptions or annual eye exams is this possible at NC1/NC2? Or do people travel to Tabuk where I'd imagine have facilities to accomodate such requests?
2. In a similar vein to the first question, for repeat prescriptions to treat thyroid conditions possible within NC1/NC2? Has anyone had experience transferring prescriptions?
3. Has anyone taken any additional insurances for moving over to Saudi Arabia (ie Life Insurance, Traveler's Insurance, etc...)?

Thanks in advance as always for your help team!

the majority of my colleagues and I use sab (formerly sabb). Takes a couple of hours for money to reach the UK, all which can be done through your banking app. Many also use wise/revolut, but it can bring occasional issues.
