Hi all, moving over quite soon so sorry in advance for the random questions. How does the food service typically work? I will be based out of NC2 and working in NC1. My current perception of food at Neom is that it's very similar to university housing where you have meals in the halls 3x a day. If you're particularly ravenous would you be able to have another meal? Further to this for late nights in the office or late night snacks during insomnia is there a Tamimi marketplace in NC2 where you can buy simple products to store in your flat?

Apologies for the oddball question, food is just so very important and I plan on having quite an active lifestyle out there so will need the fuel!

There are dining halls in both NC1 and NC2, with expansions ongoing all the time - the NC2 dining hall is due an imminent expansion for example.

There are three meal settings three times a day, roughly 0600-0830, 1130-1400 and 1800-2100, breakfast and lunch slipping slightly later at the weekends.

Food in the dining halls is plentiful and options are great. Think of it more like a really good hotel buffet with a few live stations as well. NC1 is a little better I'd say than NC2, but that's personal preference. Some say the opposite. You won't go hungry as you pick your own portions. There is a bit of an issue with people wasting food though, so always start small and if you want more, you're free to take some more.

Both camps have shops - NC2 does as you say have a Tamimi, which is a little limited in some respects. Plenty of crisps, chocolate, drinks, dried noodles, ice cream etc, but oddly given that every room has a microwave, nothing really microwavable. if you get an A Cabin, I believe you get a hotplate (not sure about an oven), yet the Tamimi sells stuff like frozen chips.. The two supermarkets in NC1 (Tamimi and Lulu) are better stocked generally. Nothing to stop you getting things from there and taking back to NC1 though.

There's also a few takeaway vans - a shawarma van, a burger van and a sone baked pizza place as well as a Dunkin donuts, so plenty of options.

Legend and thanks for the detailed response! Moving around a lot for work and for personal travel very much used to making something from nothing. I'd imagine my schedule to be breakfast in NC2 and lunch/dinner in NC1, with potentially a cheeky schwarma/burger/pizza in the evening after sports and activities at NC2. And most likely will buy things in NC1 and bring it over to NC2.

Are buses regular between NC1 and NC2? Thanks again mate.

Re food, just to add there there are a lot of choices and no limit on portion. There is a lot of options for meats everyday, typically beef, chicken and lamb. There are always fish options like grilled salmon, prawns, squid, or whole baked fish, fried fish etc. It's usually very tasty. There are also plenty options for vegetarian and vegan, like dishes from beans, vegetables, tofu.

Everday there will be a large range of deserts and fresh fruits. Also the love stations are good, for example, to get eggs cooked to your preference, or for fresh flat breads, crepe, waffles etc.

You can eat really well here, which is good for sports or training fuel. Food is usually of good quality, though mostly imported and sometimes fresh produce is a bit bland. I never complain, but you always find some who do - avoid these types.

Thank you! Sounds like the food quality is fantastic and will support my active lifestyle. Embarassed to ask this question however, do people pack extra food in their tupperware to bring back to their flats or for later when you're traveling or exploring?

No such thing as a silly question here. I think Neom miss a great opportunity of promoting the communities.
Yes, many people choose to takeaway food. Some will do it as they prefer to eat at home or alone. Eating and socialising with your colleagues cam take some getting used to.

There have been signs introduced recelty about avoiding food waste, and only taking what you need and not taking products like drinks to restock your cabin fridge. Most people are considerate but I've witnessed some greed and entitlement, especially with families taking large quantities of food . I expect there will be some changes to better control this.

And to add, the service staff are all kind and brilliant. They are always happy to help if you need anything.

Question re: NEOM COMMUNITY THREAD

Hi guys, recruiter contacted me about a planning job in Trojena. Package is good. I have a partner and young daughter of 18 months. Is it feasible to bring them with me? Is there childcare or any work for my wife?

What is it like working at the Trojena project? many thanks

I appreciate a response.

I’m flying out, possibly this weekend, from the U.K.
I’ll be working on Oxagon and am also nervous about the commute. None of my team are going to be living this far out and I’m really worried about feeling isolated.
has anyone else been told they’re most likely being put in a hotel for 12-18months?
would be nice to know fellow people are also in this position

Yes for the 100's of people that have been waiting for them already at NEOM..
Not the people arriving now... They will be waiting, as everyone else did for the next batch....

Interesting, my onboarder remains adamant that I will be placed in NC2. I am currently waiting for my visa to be stamped in the UK Saudi Embassy. Have you heard otherwise that new starters are being moved away from NC1/NC2 to hotels outside of the community?
