Most of the numpties I have spoken to so far have been fairly scary and seeing as this is prob one of the most important holidays we will ever take we want to get it right... Sooo any recommendations or contacts... Thanks (Suitable small & tacky gift from destination for any recommendation used )

A friend used Emirates Holidays on SZR near the Metropolitan and was helped by an English lady who was very patient with them.

Are there any good travel agents in Dubai?
Seriously...if you settle on a place and a hotel...let us all know. We're such a well travelled bunch that one of us has bound to have been there
And congrats...

Every-one else thanks for the best wishes and thoughts. We were looking at:
Maldives - People said great for a few days, but can get a bit boring + very expensive for anything once you are there.
Seychelles - Ditto above (but a bit cheaper)
Thailand - Too touristy now, you are either away from everything or on top of it all. And as I am a fussy bastard I want the best of both worlds so we went for.... Mauritius as the final choice.
Still not picked a hotel or even an particular area we are just looking for idea's and recommendations and thats where a decent travel agent was meant to come in. There are plenty of agents here that can sort you out if you know exactly where you want to stay (therefore the deals are not that great) and when but when you are just shopping it seems to confuse them.
BB's recommendation of Al Arabi we were pretty good and they sent through some idea's but they seem limited to one chain of hotels "Beachcombers", nice hotels but I want to see some others before we commit to one.
So any feedback is welcome....
Tacky gift reward now upgraded to not so tacky for the right resort....

Seychelles and Maldives are both pretty expensive . Qatar Airways have some good package deals if u want to check that out. Thailand on the other hand is so soo much cheaper and very beautiful as well . I was there for my honeymoon, Phuket and Phi Phi. Amazing tho not sure if all still the same after the tsunami. What about Goa (not sure of its written that way). A lot of ppl talking about it lately. Seems like the latest holiday destination.
Make sure u plan carefully. Good Luck!!

Re: Need a good travel agent (honeymoon)
dont write off thailand just yet.
we went to the very southern tip of phuket on honeymoon, nice and quiet v romantic but only 20 mins from the insanity
try the royal meridien phuket yacht club, we absolutely loved it and had the beach to ourselves most of the time.
they are now open again after the tsunami and have renovated the restraunts that got damaged
or bust the budget and stay at the oriental in bangkok, truely the most awesome hotel i've ever stayed in. not over the top, briliant rooms and the services is out of this world

However there are other options in Thailand.
Ko Tao is amazing... peaceful away from the main town, check out this place:

We stay on Tao in 2001 and it was really great. The Thai people are great. It would take a little of getting to island, but it is worth it.
In Bangkok we stayed at the Penninsula - as good or better than than the Oriental (Shiva? )
Some of my pics from Thailand:
My favourite shot in Ko Lanta
Ko Lanta
Ko Lanta as well
Ko Tao - this is the exact resort as linked above
Ko Tao
Some boats in Bangkok from the Penninsula balcony
OR
India is getting better and better! Goa is great - went there for a week a few years ago and the beaches are amazing, great location etc. We did it cheap then but we are looking to go to this place in the next year:
Does this not look amazing...?
Boutique hotel, 10 rooms only, loads of "stars" have stayed there for its simple but luxiourious charm.
You know the Chedi in Muscat? (Going there in Jan - can't wait!) Well - they have some great hotels in both Goa and Thailand:
You gotta check these babies out!
Kerela is another option... would love to go - heard great things...
Never done Mauritious, Sychelles or Maldives. Maybe too quiet for me, but a week could be bliss I am sure. You could possibly combine Maldives with an India or Sri Lanka week too?
Hope this helps in a small way?

Been to Sri Lanka. IMHO ... the place is dirty. Especially Colombo ... very dirty and full with hassle and bussle.
And yes agree that Thai ppl is great. They are friendly by nature.
