Nearly there!
Hello to all at British expats,
I have my flight booked to come out to AD on the 1st of december
Can anyone tell me wot the situation is regarding pets? (my wife wants to bring our 2 cats) is there accomodation that allows pets (or am i gonna be worried they'll end up in a curry somewhere)
I've been reading other posts to get some info, but u guys go off on the most random of conversations
My housing allowance is 192,000AED and thinking about travelling from the springs,is this a stupid idea, or will i find any 2 bed accom in AD for that money, or close to it?
all help would be greatly appreciated!
By the way, most importantly how much alcahol can u buy a month,:thumbup isn't there a restriction?

As for pets... I don't know. Villas I think are fine about them, but apartments could be trickier for obvious reasons.
As for the alcohol, once you get your residency, you can apply for an alcohol license and *I think* that entitiles you to a certain value according to your salary - not quantity. So if you wanted to spend your "allowance" on 500 litres of meths, you could.

Personally I think commuting daily from Springs, Dubai to Abu Dhabi is a stupid idea...but then I am married to Lionheart so what do I know about stupidity? Only joking darling.

depends if you can deal with 1h30-1h45 per trip on a daily basis, in exchange for cheaper rent.

I think you'd be OK living in the Springs if you don't drink, but if you do how on earth would you know which house was yours after a night on the beer ? They all look the same . . . . DH would never be able to find his way home . . . Or is that actually an advantage ?

Re: Nearly there!
Thanks everyone, i'm used to driving that amount of time and some, i've been doing it here for the past 10 years. I was hoping that i wouldn't have to do it there though, but these ridiculous prices i keep reading about has got me thinking rent cheap (HARDLY CHEAP but u know what i mean) and save more.
Nic 1 i see wot u mean about having a drink they are abit similar aren't they
wont these prices come down when other accomodation is built, say in a year or 2?

sorry commuting in the uk is nothing like commuting along the ad/dxb highway, especially when its foggy, you do take your life in your hands, take the advanced driving course before coming along here. people do the commute because they havent much choice, but its a long and boring road, and the rents may be cheaper in dubai but you have to consider the cost of the petrol and also the cost to your car, get a lease car, and then you dont have to worry about repair/service costs etc. you will get nothing in abu dhabi for 200k better sticking to dubai areas for that.
