Muscat v Amman v Addis Ababa

I want to see all of the above but will go for one in March. Any seasoned travelers on here want to recommend one over the others? I have a week spare and would like to eat at some decent restaurants, see some sites, and enjoy myself. Probably, I am leaning towards Jordan as Petra sounds great..

I will be flying from Kuwait and using local transport.

Jordan. Not much to see in Amman apart from the central part. But loads to see on a driving tour. Avoid Easter weekend though as its a public holiday there and it gets busy!

Dead Sea, lots of biblical sites, mosaics, castles (Jerash is fab), Petra, etc

And if you do go to Jordan don't forget to visit Wadi Rum - simply magical

Yes, my friend has suggested a road trip along the coast to Muscat.. How long would it take to get to Muscat from Dammam by car? Let's say we stop off in Dubai and maybe Doha or Bahrain.. Are there any interesting places to visit on the way?

Go to Addis and see poverty that you cannot imagine.
You are a bit early for this -

Getting a visa for Dammam is an issue if you are not already in KSA for work. How will get a bus/taxi from Dammam if you cannot enter Saudi ?

Try googling! it's a loooonnngggg drive, with no delays at borders etc you'd be looking at 12 hours to drive straight there. Get a flight to where you want to go and hire a car to explore when you get there.

There's plenty to see in Oman, not that far from Musat, if you hire a 4x4 and drive up into the mountains to places like Nizwa.

You keep saying that. It'll keep the numbers down for when the rest of us go back to see the stunning sites and scenery.

Out of three that you've mentioned , my vote goes to Muscat , most likely because I live in it , and I have seen how beautiful it is , Nizwa is a great place to visit and Shangri La resort in Barr Al Jissah is magical and enchanting .

At the moment, we are thinking about driving from Dammam to Doha. It says 7 1/2 hours on Google but maybe more with the border control. After that, we want to stay somewhere in UAE (just before Abu Dhabi). Is there anything to see around Rumeis, Shamis or Tarif? Any resort towns in that area?

Then we will drive on to Muscat, I think..

Qatar is worse than Jordan.....why would you want to go to Qatar, and on top of that get there by driving for several hrs. Qatar is truly a sh*thole.
