Hello everyone, this is probably a stupid qu... but i've got a fairly decent liquor cabinet, is their any chance of me being able to ship it to myself (along with my other possessions) once i've moved to Dubai and got the 'alcohol licence'?

You can certainly try but the Customs guys will most likely take it off your hands for their own personal consumption. The same goes with your porn collection.

We used a well known world wide removals company when we moved to Dubai and they said they wouldn't even consider including alcohol in the manifest.

So ... we had premier cru chablis with macaroni cheese, Fleurie with cottage pie, vintage port with stilton for pudding (we don't have a sweet tooth between us lol).

All those lovely expensive wines we'd kept for 'special occasions' which never seemed to happen - we enjoyed them ourselves. Would suggest you do the same. Have some good parties ...

This hit me hard. We ended up leaving the dildos in the loft of the house we sold when we came here.

I had stuff shipped over from the UK and it included a lot of alcohol as my friends, who had kindly done the packing for me, thought I might need it. I got hauled up before the head guy at the port in Abu Dhabi and asked to discuss why I had so much with me, when I was only allowed to bring in 4 bottles. I had no idea how much there was in the stuff - turns out that they had put in around 100 bottles - wine, champers, gin, bottles of beer etc!

Once I had recovered from the shock, the customs man let me keep about 30 bottles, but he did show me his very well stocked drinks cabinets that he had in his office!

After all of this, and me being mortified, I thought I could leave...this is when he then raised the issue of the porn!!

you can bring in 5 bottles of wine..the Allowance is 4 ltrs of wine therefore 5 bottles

Thats for shipping...... So your other option is to divide your shipping into say 20 lots, each with 4 bottles in. Don't forget you can also fly in with 4 bottles so maybe fly back and forth untill the bar is empty.....

You can bring in 5 bottles of wine everytime you land at the airport.
The allowance is 4ltrs..therefore 5x 75cl bottles of wine = 3.75ltrs
