Moving To Dubai
Probably questions you've all been asked before but... Have scanned all the FAQs and none-the-wiser!
My girlfriend has been offered, and accepted, a job in Dubai. I obviously want to go out with her but concerned about my job prospects. I have a good degree from a Uk university and now work in IT (degree not in IT tho!). I have no IT qualifications, just worked hard to get where I am. Are the chances of me finding similar work in Dubai as slim as I suspect? Also, will my visa application have to be totally seperate as we're not married?
Thanks!

There's a link to the UAE consulate, check that out...but I think you'd need your own visa outright if your not married...as for jobs, what's your degree in? because as people have said before, IT, dime a dozen, especially from India, cheaper to employ and highly skilled...so it's a tough one to get into, but you'll certainly have more luck looking while out there.
welcome to the site btw.

Re: Moving To Dubai
Hmmm, figured that was the answer to both those questions! My degree is in Public Sector Management (it made sense at the time, honest); unfortunately it's pretty specific to the UK as UAE doesn't have a welfare state as such, and certainly no NHS which is what I specialised in! I just can't think of an application I can apply my qualifications to in Dubai.
Thanks for the reply, been reading through these forums for a while now and picked up a lot of useful info....

Well if you can wing general project managment, be really handy in the construction industry, loads of projects and hotels out there, so maybe that'll be a good area to look into, certainly as a back door into IT??

Thank you, will keep that in mind. I've done a good few projects in my time so perhaps it might be a good idea to focus on the administrative, rather than the technical.
Either way, still looking forward to a better standard of living than we currently have in the uk
