Default Moving to Doha next week!

so the wife and i (no kids) are moving to doha next week

i work in sport and have got a good offer 55k/mo plus private villa in compound with pool/gym - 45 cal days leave plus 2x1.5 week shutdowns for Eid - medical ins, gratuity, possiblecschool fees and 1 flight home per year are also included

we have read and researched much and currently our queries relate to:

1 getting the dog taken care of while we travel outside of Qatar
2 deciding on buying new/used car vs leasing
3 keeping busy (my working day ends at 2pm)
4 meeting people
5 trying not to murder someone due to the inordinate delays in doing even the most straightforward of tasks
6 deciding if it is better to join diplomatic club/hotel health club or neither

1. Kennels. most of the vets here have them. Some better than others.
2. Can't help you with that, but surely somebody else here will.
3.Shopping??? Being stuck in traffic...
4. work, compound.
5. Good luck with that.
6. Dip club, if you are Arabic, otherwise,IMHO, NO. Try Intercon or Four Seasons, Hilton etc.. No need if you live on a compound with a nice pool, gym IMHO.

we are also considering my company's bizzare policy of only granting three periods of leave per year!! although hopefully this can be worked around when we hit the ground!

doubtful. Also 45 calendar days... you probably don't want to take lots of little holidays as the weekends will burn your leave.
