To be honest, the roads are appalling. Yes, you definitely need a crash helmet and frankly, you will be constantly trying to avoid potholes. Roadworks everywhere, so you are never really going to get up to a decent speed, plus the complete and utter morons that think they are The Stig, and obviously aren't, make it a pretty dangerous place to ride a road bike. I know that Losail has race days when you can take your bike up for a race around.

If however, you are interested in dirt bikes in the desert, there is a group that gets together regularly, Qatar Duners, for quads/motocross bikes, if you are interested, I can get you the email contact for that.

There is a bikers club too, they meet in Garvey's every other Wednesday, or certainly were last year anyway. They do on and off road and can give you more details .. Mellie's description of road conditions is spot on so god knows how they all find getting about.

www.zapmans.net/forum/ or so it says in Marhaba

Imo, its taking your life in your own hands, plenty of women I know here wont even drive cars, maybe thats half the fun tho!
