Money transfers to UK banks.. advice needed
New here in Dubai, and last week I sent money back home to the UK from my HSBC account. They charged my 150 dirhams for this, and although it was a very quick transfer, I think it is a little pricey. Is this the correct rate, or are there cheaper options for transferring money to the Uk? Thanks. :)

It's not good value. Their fixed charge is high and exchange rate is poor, as I have told them when their customer service reps call to offer me unwanted loans. To no avail.
Try one of the money exchange places to wire home. Once they have your details, it's quick and efficient. I use Al Ansari for convenience, AED60 fixed plus a good (negotiable if you send enough back) rate. There are many others. I just get the cash from my account and take it to the exchange. |

Well any amount is worth an ask! The more you are sending the better the chances - like in all negotiations, there are no 'rules'.
