Missus just texted me this astonishing news - which came from a friend. Apparently the Polish embassy has canceled an upcoming embassy do because of this new ruling.

If true, this will make KSA a very tortuous place to live

Anyone heard similar news? Please tell me it's an urban myth...

Got message from friend stating the same thing. Apparently all the embassies have received such letter!!!
Anybody else can confirm? Is that even be possible since the embassies are foreign soil?

Just spoke to my man in the Irsih Embassy he said they havent seen any thing as yet.

I fail to see how the Saudi's can enforce this. Embassies are foreign soil.

But the soil outside the embassies, where pi**ed up expats vomit, pi** and fight are 100% Saudi owned. I'm sure if they wanted to, they could influence embassies to do something like this.

If the UK can enforce gun law on the diplomatic bags entering the UK, Saudi can do the same with laws regarding the importation of alcohol.

Whether they should is another matter entirely, of course.

its not exactly like falling out of at nightclub at 4am with a bunch of drunken teeenagers, well at least where I was in the DQ. Usually also when the parties end the police are always outside keeping an eye on things.

The UK cannot enforce gun law on diplomatic bags. I friend of mine had dinner with 'General' Mikhail Kalashnikov in London and was presented with a silver plated AK47 brought into the country in diplomatic baggage
