One move that would really boost Dubai would be if Big Mo made the city 2mb+ wifi for free. The worlds first broadband wi-fi city... bring on the true e-business not just the stupid e-government crap....

You could always put your ringer on silent and claim you were in a meeting

Apparently.
back on track....
MrsHaps - The two BIS services that you can choose from are the domestic unlimited plan which costs 185 and the global domestic plan which costs 295, if you travel frequently, then I'd suggest the global unlimited plan.
Or if you don't fancy the blackberry there are plenty of alternatives, the treo, htc touch, or the oqo e2 (for me the e2 eradicates the use of a laptop while I travel) but unfortunately the data plans for these cost more.
Hope this answers your question.

I personally think just having a BB for contacting family and friends is expensive....but remember you will have to buy the blackberry out here and they are not subsidised like they are in the UK (at least not as much). As people have said, if you bring your UK mobile out, you need to have it unlocked.

Re: Mobile phones - on the go!
What is the cheapest way to call from a mobile or mobile laptop in the UK to a mobile out here? Mobilke to mobile is extortinate. Calling from a landline in Uk is inconvenient.
I am considering either a wifi enabled mobile phone e.g. Nokia N95/E51 in the UK with VOIP facilities or one of the new Skype mobiles. I think Skype calls work incoming to UAE but not outgoing? (I know some people can get outgoing)
The other alternative is mobile broadband on a laptop and using Skype?
Happy to hear suggestions.
