As most of you are aware it has been rumoured that the Country Club is closing down, this link confirms it. Although it doesn't state on this link that Meydan is being built on DCC land it does in the sports section of todays paper. They estimate tha this 'city' will be built by October 2009 so it appears the life of the Country Club is quite literally numbered.

Very sad as alot of people have very happy memories of that place. As far as I can find out the Municipality are going to offer DCC land (prob in Al Ain) to rebuild. Won't be the same.

isn't it strange that in the week leading up to the entire world looking at dubai and it's richest horse race, every single day the headline in gulf news was about how kind Dubai is, there was the labourer thing, the health and safety and the minimum wage, then the K9, they were just trying to make it look as though they are a city that cares. They were shamed into the k9 thing. They couldn't give a shit about the country club.
