Men with a van/truck
I'm moving out of my current place this weekend, and due to some unexpected expenses, I had to leave getting a bed until I was paid.
Does anyone have a number for someone with a van/truck who are cheap (around 200AED) that could pick up a mattress and a bed from IKEA today and take it up to the JLT area?
Otherwise it's going to be an airbed until IKEA deliver it.

Not sure about the Ikea in DFC, but in Ab Dhabs there are always a few freelancers hanging around outside the store offering their man & van services

If you're anywhere near Bur Dubai go to Kuwait Street (the end nearer the sea/New Gold Souk). There are vans/trucks parked there everyday for hire.

I thought IKEA delivered (and assembled) furniture etc if the cost was over x. I'm not sure much x is though.

its over 2000 aed I think! but also their delivery schedule is normally rammed so you have to wait a few weeks.

Being Norwegian I wouldn't let anyone stop me building some flatpack furniture of course, but also I've heard that they are very sloppy and stuff is not assembled to a good standard..
You don't have to wait a couple of weeks by the way. We bought some stuff yesterday and they will deliver it tomorrow.

ok just ignore me!
When I bought stuff there it was at the end of Ramadan so guess they had a backlog as I had a two week wait - should have been 3 but they had a cancellation- as usual its just crap coming out my mouth
