Meed: Dubai to revamp SZR area...
Dubai is planning to launch a new real estate company (Meraas) charged with a multi billion dollar project to redevelop land between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Road, from the World Trade Centre roundabout to Al-Sufouh (including Satwa, Al Wasl and Al Safa areas).
The area could extend for more than 10kms alongside the highway with a width of 2 kms, and affect tens of thousands of people living in the area.
The area to be redeveloped is currently occupied by low-density residential properties, including villas and low rise apartment buildings. It is not clear how the process of moving people out of the area will be managed.
So, one of the last few remaining tracts of greenery and nice areas to now give way to thousands of skyscrapers.......

This is something that has been in the pipeline for a long time. The end product, if it does not divert too much from the plans, will be worth it.
