Default Medical Test for KSA Visa

Can someone please advise how ot get a medical test done from the UK?

Can I get it done with a NHS GP?

How much it normally coast?

I have high blood pressure and will it affect obtaining a visa?

Notionally you should be able to get it done through any GP as long as he/she uses the correct form (you also need a chest x-ray which obviously a GP wouldn't be able to do), but not sure how you would then get it legalised etc. A visa agent should be able to advise, and they can also normally arrange for the medical test itself.

I used Harley Medical Services (located in Harley Street - can't remember the details but they have been mentioned on the forum before so do a quick search) and they did all of the visa work for me including medical. I think the medical cost £325 or something.

I think they are mainly looking for infectious diseases, my blood pressure is somewhat off the charts and I got both visit, and later, work visas with no trouble.....

I also think that the doctor would have to sign a letter saying that the person is fit to work. I don't think that they are that bothered. Really with teh aids tests, the x ray , the other specialised blood tests, you are beetter off getting it done as a package. I used same day doctor in London - about £300 overall and if you are in Glasgow there may be a similar facility.

I've heard that some GP do the tests but will charge and some that refuse - because the purpose of the test is irrelevant to the purpose of the GP practice.

I went through all of this a month ago.

You need to print a medical form from the saudi embassy website :-

http://www.mofa.gov.sa/Detail.asp?In...sItemID=100851

Take this to your normal GP and get them to fill it in. The main questions are about your medical history and the doctor needs to sign that you are fit for work. May be a charge for this, no more than £50. The document needs to be legalised from the Foreign and Commonwealth office in Milton Keynes (costs £36.00) includes return postage and takes about a week. Details where to send are at :-

http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/about-us/wh.../legalisation/

High Blood Pressure shouldn't be a problem as long as the doctor feels you are fit.

That's it for the medical.... The main medical tests are when you get to KSA for your company insurance and iqama.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Arthur

you didn't do a chest x-ray arthur?

by the way the medical in saudi is laughable compared to the one you do in the UK. basically consists of one more chest x-ray, blood sample, urin sample and stool sample. you don't speak to a doctor it is only a formality (and to catch those clever people who have faked their medical from home country).

Wasn't a requirement. I spoke to the consular office at the Saudi Embassy because I was getting conflicting advice about Aids tests and x-rays. I was told that the form is all they require. Was pretty straight forward (not that I can say that for the rest of the process!!).

I was quite lucky in KSA that the test I did when I got here (Blood, urin, x-ray, bp, pulse and quick chat with doc (**no stool**) lol. This was used for both my insurance and Iqama. All my colleagues had to do the test twice - with stools.....

Yeah the stool sample took me by surprise as well. They could tell you up front couldn't they...

As always in KSA everything is up to local interpretation. Even when things are law this happens apparently, for example the law that states there is no such thing as a no objection letter when you leave an employer, but which is only applied in certain embassies so it depends which country you're from.

Ridiculous if you ask me, but what can we really expect from a country that had nothing but camels and sand 100 years ago....and hey, as long as they pay good money I'm quite willing to endure a bit of confusion!

Default Re: Medical Test for KSA Visa

Hi, I had my KSA medical in UK about 8 weeks ago, via my GP.

My GP filled the embassy medical form (once he understood it !) with results from bloods taken and gave me photocopy of blood test results print out. No x-ray !! GP charged £15 ! Then got it legalised by FCO via visa agent.... and I got my KSA work visa with no chest xray.

But like the other posts, I tried to use same medical results in KSA, but was forced to redo the lot, PLUS chest X-ray, for iqama.

So if you're paying from you're pocket, cheaper to use your GP then private practice for the medical.

Goodluck.

Thing is, there ARE no hard/fast rules here.
I came out on a work visa 2 weeks ago thru a highly efficient UK agent, and did no medical tests atall in the UK.
Then my company HR sent me for a "fit for work" medical and said "get them to give you the iqama medical certificate too".. So, did that, and turned out the centre HR sent me to aren't licensed to do the iqama medical. So, the next day I had to go and re-do all the same stuff (yes including the stool sample...) at an iqama licensed place (btw that place is the Dr Sulaiman Al Habib hospital downtown "accept no substitute").

Thank you all.

The medical report form I got it from the embassy is 1 A4 size page. And this needs to signed by a GP and also needs to be verified by FCO.

So is it sufficient? Do I need to attach the copies of the lab results along with the application form?

My wife will accompany me. So does she also need a medical certificate?

The embassy says copies of academic qualification certificates. They haven't specified tht it should be notary attested or something. Do they really need notary stamp on it? Or Degree certificate and official transcript sufficient?

Could you do me a big favour and let me know which Agent with the Wasta you use. I used to use the old boy in Mayfair but I did a long stint out there last time and now he's packed up and it seems the rest are mere young pretenders.

If you wish to be discreet then email/private message me and I am sure to return the favour at some point.

BTW which city did you visit Dr Sulaiman's in??

You will get used to doing everything wrong/half done first time and then finding out the vital information afterwards.

Just had my medical done here in Riyadh and standards must vary widely, admittedly my company asks for extra tests so ended up with blood, 4 x-rays, ECG and ultrascan as well as stool and urine samples.

The company that I used in London was called HARLEY MEDIC INTERNATIONAL,
Tele: 020 7727 7672 they also did all the paperwork and degree attestation etc. All I did was turn up for the medical and produce the various docs and certs and then got my passport with visa sent back in about 7 days.

Yes there are many agencies in London that will cover this service for you.
I used Harley Street the last time superb job no worries.
I am going to have to use them again next year when my contract is up.
I must reurn to the Uk for the process all over again.

This what i had as a reply a couple of weeks ago from them.

Please find a list of the documents that we require to process your work visa application –
I have included examples of what each of the documents (highlighted in green) look like.

Passport

4 Passport photos

Completed Application form (we will complete this at the time of the medical)

Medical – (done here at our Harley St practice) it will then be legalized by us at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office

Copy of your CV

Copies (not originals) of qualifications which would support his role on the visa block.

Copy of contract of employment

No objection certificate if you have worked in Saudi during the last 12 months.

Electronic Power of Attorney

Clear copy of the company visa block

Copy of company registration (CR) certificate

The fees for our services are as follows:

Medical: £325.00

Work Visa processing: £126.50

It takes 24 hours from the date of your medical for us to receive a full set of results back from the laboratory. Most people want this completed as quickly as possible and we therefore get the medical legalized within a couple of hours at the Foreign Office's Express Premium service (in London) for which there is an additional charge of £125. If the visa is not required immediately, we can get the medical legalized at the Foreign Office in Milton Keynes and usually takes 5-6 days longer to process.

It typically takes 5-6 working days to process an express work visa application and 10-12 days to process the application if it legalized at Milton Keynes. But, because it is Ramadan, these timescales may be extended by anything up to 5 days….

Please let me know if you have any additional queries.

Kind Regards

Ian
