Medical for KSA work visa
Hi folks
I am in the process of exploring requirements for KSA work visa. I contacted the embassy and they sent me a one page form for medical, which looks stupid. I have a few questions on this regard:
(1) Is it required the whole family including kids to do the medical?
(2) Is x-ray a must or can be done without it. I have no problem doing x-ray but the cost and time will be reduced without it.
(3) Should the GP do it or can I do it elsewhere?
(4) Do I have to go through this hassle again for Iqama once in KSA??
(5) any idea about the cost?
Thanks

Re: Medical for KSA work visa
I can sympathise - I had the same feeling when I saw the page!
(a) I think age 16 up - certainly my kids (4,8) didn't do a medical
(b) Yes x-ray would be needed
(c) I had GP do it - but obviously blood tests, X-ray etc done by referral at home to pathologist / X-ray specialist
(d) Yes - there is an Iquama medical required as well once you arrive
(e) Can't help with cost - but the company reimbursed us for all the costs of the medical tests at home and they paid for the medical here.
Cheers

b) no x-ray was needed for me or my wife at least not for visa (did it foe IQAMA)
c) 'approved GP' did it. got blood taken and referral to x-ray but also told to apply straight away for visa which I duly did same day. visa was given w/o x-ray being taken and for sure the blood result wasn't ready
d) when you come to KSA adults get blood taken, x-ray, piss and sometimes stool
e) 200E per head (times four) for medical. Then between 20E to 100E in KSA depends where you go.
Don't forget attestation of medical reports by MOFA or whatever it's called where you're from.

Thanks dragonladyoz, Desert Dubliner for your advice. As I understand, at the end it is not the GP who determines whether or not to go for x-ray. Have you done any urine/stool test for the visa?
I cannot understand why they ask to do it twice for the visa and then for Iqama? As far as I know (in civilized countries), normally the medical is valid for 3 months.

There is no reason why in this place - and in all honesty - as you have seen from our responses there is no "one" way these things get done - its all a matter of what the company/g'ment/doctor etc will accept on the day!
