Hello everyone!
My partner is looking for a job in the media industry in Dubai. She currently works for an established media (tv & film) distribution company in London as an aquisitions executive.

She is looking for advice or contacts. We know media city have a lot of the big players like BBC World & Star, but dont know what jobs are out there and how to get them?

Just thought I'd ask, you never know, you may know someone?. Any help would be great

MBC are in Media city as are showtime.... try www.bayt.com

check the wiki, there isn't much on the media side, but there is a wee bit in there to get you started.

I've replied via PM. TBH, the only two likely places are MBC and Showtime, as they are the only major players based in Dubai who buy in nearly all of their programming from the USA and Europe. BBC World and Star only maintain token offices here, with all the real work done in London and Hong Kong respectively.

I guess there might be possibilities at Dubai One (aka One TV), but that's about it. Orbit's based in Rome and the new Fox movie channel is based in Cairo.

As mentioned in PM to MrHappy - there are also the movie distributors who also handle TV sales and acquisitions as well as movie acquisations. There are about 4-5 in Dubai that cover the region... as well as the home entertainment companies and the also the music distribs... which are all related industries...
