I live in Dubai, I merely work in the Magic Kingdom

But Dubai does require notice of the marriage to be posted at the British embassy - more or less the same as banns. And my, uh, friend isn't willing to go through a Church wedding (and neither is the other half - though if it were a choice between a Minister and Elvis...)

they will have to go back to UK then cos you can't get civil weddings done here. Used to be able to but stopped it a while back. If she is pregnant I suggest they get it over with ASAP

She's not pregnant, but she's not a Brit either... £500 for a marriage visa for the UK these days. Plus the cost of the flights, and the banns meaning either two visits or three weeks off work. Ouch!

Was wondering about maybe Malta or Cyprus...
