Default Management Consultants

No, I don't know what they do either, but I am wondering if anyone knows if there is much call for them in Dubai?

Thanks

(Thinking of someone specifically who is well experienced)

In my experience, it needs a more specific title or background to get a foot in the door.

"Management Consultant" sounds too generic, but if your friend could give him/herself a title that relates to actual expertise, I find it helps (although I think that's true of the UK as well).

I know a "Systems and IT Risk Consultant" (or something similar) who is swamped with work. Firms bring him in to do ethical hacking and stuff, while firms requiring other types of consultancy don't bother wasting his time.

This is just a general enquiry from me. My friend can sell himself, but I thought I'd enquire from the learned posters here first.

I take it that your answer is generally a 'yes' though.

thanks

Consultants generally? Yes - and government/civil service entities are VERY keen on them.......

I did a 6-month stint with the Dubai government's Ruler's Court/Diwan (down by the Dubai Museum) and I certainly wasn't the only one there at the time.....

Partner says he works with Management Consultants in M & E Design Consultancy (Mechanical & Electrical) they get paid for pulling everyone together (excuse the pun) ie Building Services Consultants, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, in fact the full design team, he calls them paper shufflers, they do nothing productive themselves but give everyone tasks at site meeting.

I'm a management consultant. Yes, there is demand, though I know more about the big firm side of the industry than the freelancer side. PM me if you want to pick my brains about the former.
