Mammography

Hi all,
new to the middle east forum but not to the Australian we have been in OZ for five and a half years, however my wife and I are thinking about Saudi for a couple of years my wife is a mammographer and is keen to work at one of the hospitals, however I have been told I must get the job/visa initially...There maybe a chance of this but no certainty....We have spoken to agencies but feel because of our Australian experience that they can be elusive with regards to pay and conditions one did reveal there is a massive shortage in regards to breast screen workers, is there anyone out there working as a mammographer in particular Riyadh.

Thanks
Gary

Don't work as a mammographer - but you could try King Faisal Hospital, National Guard Hospital, Bin Sulaiman Habib Clinics, Consulting Clinics - NGH has recently seemed to be on a bit of a recruitment drive, but it is a fair way out.

Your wife can get a job without you having one - but not sure if she can sponsor you if you don't have a job.

Cheers Nic I think my wife rang a few today however when transferred to radiology there was no English speaking person...I get the feeling it is all done through the agencies, even HR were a waste of time.
Thanks

that's a Middle East thing, same would happen here in Dubai. I think she would have more opportunity here than Saudi.

Hi there, my wifes a radiographer (they call it a technician here in UAE).

Now im not sure about Saudi but in the UAE a radiographers job is seen as a low paid job....., which is very strange as everyone knows that a Radiographer knows more about rays and pathology then a Radiologist does. The job of a tech / Radiographer is usually done by filipino with not much experience.

Your wife would be better off, if income is a priority, to contact some healthcare companies and try to get a job doing RIS / PACS something or another. They usually pay quite well but it depends if thats where she wants her career to go.

Just my two pence worth....

Thanks from initial contact with agencies they seem quite optimistic in her gaining employment,,,,,it's just sorting things out that seems to hard...Figures of 90k AUD were mentioned but because of the lack of mammographers it is negotiable apparently.
