HEY(waves) Im here. Sooorrrryyyyy but been sooooo busy. Going home for Xmas in 2 weeks and Im extremely busy at the mo

Malta is great, I mean its my home so Im proud of it. Tiny island, 400 000 population. Ppl VERY friendly and everyone speaks English. A lot of hills and valleys. Beaches r v nice and sea is bright blue clean medit sea. 2 smaller neighbouring islands reachable by ferry. Very nice hotels, some too expensive depending on the season. A lot of nightlife and restos. Very safe. Careless driving and narrow roads. Lots of places to go to but keep in mind everything is on a smaller scale due to the size of the island.

Hmmm Wot else.......ah beautiful ppl of course...hehe

Anything else u wanna know, ask away..

Thanks Malt, yeh, cost of living and schools!
Mr R has been offered a job with a company he has tried to get in for last 20 years!!!
Offer is Holland. But they have manager leaving in Malta (retiring) and they have asked him if he wants that position!
Comes with free accommodation and car. I believe job is PQS on refurbishment of hotels (Marriot) Holland also comes with free accommodation and car.
Dilemma?? I love Holland, know it well, spent lots and lots of time there. But never been to Malta. But I know the ppl are sooooooo nice
x
Might even see you in Malta at Xmas then??

No its not refurbishing Marriot in Malta!!
Its a huge project 320 million GBP, at Tigne Point and Manoel Island.(Valletta)
940 apartments, 12,000m2 of office space, 17,000m2 leisure and retail complex, luxury hotel, casino, 350 berth marina.
Wow, thats some project. Malta so tiny, I bet its the talk of the island.
Bet Mr R takes that one.
Suppose I could always fly to Holland when I get the urge?

Oooooooh a job in Malta, now thats interesting. Well many many huge projects going on in Malta esp since property is getting very very expensive since we joined the EU. I know that project and it is a HUGE one yes.

Schooling is much much cheaper than Qatar. About 50% less I believe. Theres only one international school which would be the most expensive but keep in mind that the private schools are all english speaking so I dont think u need the International School as the others are just as good. Hmmm I would think that one of the best private schools would charge u approx QR3500 per term(3mnths) if not less. U have to keep in mind that in Malta theres tax. 35% on yr monthly wage and another 18% VAT on practically everything. Most of the expats, them being not so much have excellent wages. Cars are more than double the price of Qatar and petrol 5x as much. U can of course find the cheap and the expensive stuff. A huge range of restos, pubs, clubs, hairdresses are prob the cheapest in the world lol (I miss that).

Hmmm wot else...... I am in fact leaving for Malta in 2 weeks and would love really to meet u if ure gonna be there. Would be really strange ha, not managed to meet in Qatar and would meet in Malta. Hahaa maybe its fate

That would be so good.
Currently contract location is blank! lol
Two MD's are arguing over where Mr R should be, both want him on their projects. I know Holland very well and was one place I have missed dearly since living in Southern Hemisphere.
Mr R has two flights on stand by, one for Malta, one for Holland.
Hopefully we should hear tonight which MD has won!
Mr R fancies both projects and both countries. Dilemma aint it?
Both offer good wages and package, its same company anyway.
We hope to transfer to Brisbane after 12-18 months or sooner, depending on length of project and of course where!
Tonight or early morning will be decision time. It was all decided last week, Holland it was, till the Global MD thought he would snatch Mr R and now its left us with 2 choices.
Still, both sound good.
Yes, be good to catch up with you at Xmas, saves a fortune in texts eh? PS Its gonna be tough to find anywhere as cheap as Doha for petrol eh?

Im sure he will be able to do both at the same time. Holland not far from Malta and I think theres frequent flights available. Yes Malta is hot in the summer but def not as hot as Doha so dont worry. Winter is usually mild tho got a bit harsher last couple of years. I warn u when it rains it rains a real lot and theres flooding everywhere. Never snows . Spring is the best time of the year. Simply beautiful. Im sure u will love it there...

Oh Mr R is already looking at the net and falling in love with Malta. I know what you mean about the rain, Cyprus was like that, one minute hot as hell, we stopped for dinner, came out the restaurant and the streets where flooded about 12 inches of rain! But then it was gone as quickly as it appeared.

It took me just one week to adjust to the heat of Doha in summer and then I just LOVED it.
Bet Holland is cold at mo though Still, who cares, its the only country in the world I would put up with being cold. Dont do Uk in cold, but Holland, it never bothered me coz I enjoyed being there sooooo much.
