Default Looking to relocate to Dubai; pls advise

Can anyone please advise which is the best way to find job in Dubai. I am part qualified Management Accountant and my husband is Project Manager- Retail Construction. I have looked on various recruitment sites but not sure how reliable they are. They also charge for their service but again not sure if they find guaranteed job or not.I am desperate to leave UK and start a new life somewhere else.

any website or recruitment co that charges a fee should be steered well clear of.

if you read the boards here you should realise this isn't the best time to be looking for a job here, particularly in construction.
With thousands of cv's being sent to recruitment co's here, the best thing is to come over for a week or two and get yourself seen - its the only way you will be taken serious.

harsh words there! lol

Construction has basically dried up... you *may* stand a chance if you've got a lot of experience or are really, really special, but as Admon mentioned, there have been hundreds, if not thousands of job losses in the construction industry here - across the board - and lots of skilled, recently-employed people flooding the market. It'd be cheaper for companies to employ those already here, than set up wonderful expat packages for new arrivals.

Look at the big recruitment agencies in specialist magasines in the UK. You shouldn't have to pay a fee. There are some listed in the wiki. Oh, and don't be lured by the words "tax free salary"... the rent here is extortionate and the cost of living is pretty high too. Think London prices.... and think London rents and, er... triple them.

as others have said, this really, really isn't a good time to be moving here...heard some bad news about a big company today and if even they are in trouble, then god help the rest...

I agree 100%, not the time to be upping sticks and trying your luck in a foreign country. Look what has happened to Mrs Haps

agree with everyone, there are thousands of engineers etc unemployed here, so if they are lucky enough to get another job, they will work out cheaper because they are already in the country, and easier to get because they should be able to transfer visas etc. i would NOT come here now, as a lot of people have just come off the plane been working for a few weeks, and are now getting right back on that same plane

I have lost faith in the RCs and will be travelling to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in Jan09.
Bottom line seems to be; want a job in the middle east, go over there and get one!

Not anymore, unfortunately. Don't waste your money coming all the way here. Sadly, a lot of people are having a very rough time here, especially those that arrived here recently.

I think your wasting your time but let us know how you get on. There are plenty people here without jobs who have middle east experience.
