Default Looking to move to the ME

Im a Londoner. Am looking to leave the UK for good. The key reason for my decision is the high taxes in Britain.

Im looking at the Middle East as a possibility. This isn't a post about potential job opportunities - which I have a strategy for identifying. This is more a post about quality of life and social life etc (Im single, 30 years old).

My personal choices are: UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain with Kuwait a possibility. I rule out Saudi Arabia which I regard as too great a cultural adjustment. Any thoughts from forum members would be very gratefully received.

My thoughts are along the lines of DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH and stop asking questions of such a vague and generalistic nature...and forget Kuwait.

At my income level, the taxes saved would be significant. I don't particularly like paying 52 percent income tax in Britain.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Can I suggest that you get your ass on a plane and visit the area? I would visit in the following order:

UAE
Bahrain
Oman
Kuwait
Qatar

Some will put Qatar above Kuwait - I put it at the bottom due to the exit stamp policy.

Visiting all of them won't be possible for me - as I only have 25 workings days off in a year. Hence the question.

I would only move for three to four years. Not looking to move for good.

How does Abu Dhabi compare with Dubai for quality of life? Dubai I have seen, Abu Dhabi I haven't visited.

I was going to mention the 7 quid beers, 4 GBP yogurts and 50k GBP rents, but decided I couldn't be arsed. Not forgetting the 100quid parking tickets that they are handing out like sweets at the moment.

... but you said for good?

I would say that AD is nicer than Dubai... that said, I'm on the cusp of accepting a job in Dubai and am looking forward to moving. You can get a rub and tug massage in either place.
