Smile Looking for a good Respected Job in Dubai

Hi,

I was looking into getting a job in Dubai. Anyone know any way i can search for this as i was looking all over. I havent done to well in college and i have a relative who is not closley related but he has said it is brilliant out there, even though he hasnt explained it enough. I am thinking of finishing my college studies in AVCE ICT and then looking to go over, but what is the pay average for a uk citizien.

Also can anyone recommend me if it is a good time to buy an apartment or house there considering house prices have gone up in the last 2 years. I hear if you get or buy an apartment the visa thing sorts its self out

Thank You

If you search this forum for "jobs" or "work" you will soon realise that even highly qualified experienced professionals find it very very hard to get work in Dubai.

Your releative has told you its great living out here instead of the UK, and i'd have to agree. Problem is that everyone says that and everyone wants to be here, whether its for the weather or tax breaks.

Unless you have a VERY specialist trade i will be surprised if you will find work. There are ten of thousand of workers from India or Asia that will happily do any job you are going for....for a 5th of your wages.

A good friend of mine works for a recruitment agency, and he gets 1,000's of CV for each IT job he posts. Most Indian nationals that post have more qualifications than your average IT director in the UK. To them, Education is a gift rather than a chore as some UK people think, and because of this, most of them are very good at there job.

Most expats here have either been sent by a UK company, and have an expat package, or are skilled workers who have come over and pushed for a job.
If you take the second option, you may be lucky enough to find something, but the wages will be poor and after you have paid for accomodation you will be left with nothing.
Doesnt matter where you are in the world..if your miserable your miserable.

Please search for other posts and formulate your own opinion. Maybe your relative can get you something ?

I would suggest that if its financially viable, come over for a week or two and see if you can find anything.

Best of luck either way

welcome to the forums

But as JD said, dime a dozen, be really hard to get a job, even more so with a shit degree and sod all experience, unless you've got contacts to sort you out, your chances are next to nothing because of all the cheap highly skilled experienced imports from asia already.

As for salary, it's what you make of it, and it's hard to compare direct salaries, because although housing is a high cost, if you have a decent package, it's less of an issue, but also, your take home pay is a lot higher, the only real expense is the living cost because the income isn't taxed to buggery like it is in the UK.
But the standard of living, that's all about how you want to live, if you want to live the high life, go partying all the time and drive a flash car, your gonna find money an issue, but if your just out for a quiet time and chill out for a couple years, you'll save a bundle.

Best bet if your relative can't sort you out would be get a job in the UK, get 5 years decent work experience and some of your own contacts and if the ME is still buoyant, give it a go when you have more to offer.

Goodluck

As for visa's, you can get a holiday visa on entrance to the country...as for work visa, depends on where you get a job and all that, but it's not that difficult, certainly compared to many other countries.

Hello talksoccer. Welcome to the forum.

Finding a job in Dubai is not as easy as most people think it is. And depending on what areas u want to get into, there would be different people/companies to get in touch with. Obviously the first thing that comes to mind are the recruitment firms, but they only give you the time of day if u show that u r dedicated to coming out here..... this wud happen if u set up meetings with them during ur trip.

Apartments and property...... long story short, visas are issued only to those that NEED one.... as long as u r employed, your company will provide u with a work visa, but if u r not employed, the property developer will provide u with a visa and I was horrified to learn that this visa does not allow u to seek employment. So be careful.

I am away from london for a while, but I will be back on the 11th. Maybe when I get back I cud tell u more bout this over the phone if u r keen on finding out more.

Enjoy the forum!
