Long Drive
 
Something i have always wanted to do is the drive from Dubai to Muscat ! has anyone tried the journey ! Whats the pitfalls ! Also when there is it simple just to book a flight back to the UK

When I lived in Oman I drove with a colleague, it was an easy journey except for the boarder crossing bit. Flights to the UK from Oman are also easily available, either direct or with stop over in a Middle East country depending on the airline.

It's not really that long, at about five hours. No real pitfalls to be aware of other than slow border crossings during holidays.

It's not really a drive that I would do for the sake of it, as much of it is pretty dull, especially along the coast road. The inland route is a little more interesting if you can stop off to visit Nizwa and take some side trips up into Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams.

Slight update on the above thread, just that another two want to tag along and spend some time in Muscat along with us, we hold UK passports they hold Emirate passports and one is female, she is worried she may get hassle trying to fly out from Muscat rather than travel back into the UAE ...
