If you are employed, then its never as secure as you think. Especially here.

I have been here almost 9 yrs and the summers don't get any easier. You can barely stand outside for more than a few mins, let alone take a 5-10 min walk. And i ain't no huffer either.

Yes I know it's incredibly hot in the summer, does anyone really turn up expecting it to not be..?

Saying I want a location 5-10 minutes from the Metro doesn't mean I intend to walk it in 50c heat.

I know I will never have enough money to reach the lavish lifestyle or bragging rights expected by other expats.

It's not just about the money mate, it's the job, the cars, the location you live, the school your cunty kids go to. People here will compete over anything.

Just find something that you'll always have in your locker to get out of those conversations. I can comfortable out-rude a rude person if I want. It's not the nicest thing to do but the unforgettable ignorance, arrogance and hatefulness of some people here trying to constantly win with one-upmanship gets boring.

True story: I was at a house party here, there was a bird banging on about her wedding (she had a track record for being a bit big time, for no reason). A group of 5 of us had been subjected to an absolute torrent of boring information about how wonderful it was going to be. Not us asking questions and humble / modest and interesting replies. No. Full blown, full frontal attack of the mind of how wonderful and great it will be.

Scamp, about X pints in (where X = lots) on an empty stomach, just stood there, finally bored of it all and (I promise this is true) I shouted "BORING"...."THIS IS BORING. I'M BOOOOORED OF THIS" before just turning around and walking off. The blokes wet themselves the women shuddered and I went home with a VERY angry mrs.

That knobhead woman never did speak to me again though. I did apologise, but I think the work had been done and I never had to interact with someone so big time. Yeah I was rude and could have dealt with it differently but spice things up, get wild, get rude, **** em. YOu're being subjected to their rudeness, so give a little back. Can't hurt.
