Liwa Hotel
Hi all, anyone stayed at Liwa Hotel ? Due to 'unforeseen circumstances' we are having to drive to Dubai to meet up with my sister instead of flyng, Thinking of breaking the journey with a night here. Is it far off the main RIyadh - Dubai route does anyone know ? Is it OK ?
Cheers

Re: Liwa Hotel
your driving from riyadh to Dubai.....if so thats one hell of a drive.
Liwa hotel is in liwa which if you take the Madinat Zayed road off the main road between the border and Abu Dhabi, will be about a 2 hour diversion out of your way just to get there.
Liwa hotel is nice enough, nothing fancy but perfectly ok.
Be aware though that the Saudi border to Dubai is the better part of a 6 hour drive with there being a grand total of sweet **** all between the border and Abu Dhabi. All that said it will give you a better chance to see the UAE and Saudi than most ever get

if you do go to liwa and leaving in daylight then dont take the same road back. instead follow signs to Hameen and take the hameen road back north towards Abu Dhabi, that way you'll get to see the eastern side of the Liwa crescent and come up through the Ramlat Al Hamra which is beautiful. DO NOT take this road at night though, way too many camels and no fences

Re: Liwa Hotel
Hi everyone, thanks for the replies. We know it's a long way - but we drove down to Salalah a couple of years ago so this will be similar I guess. The drive to Salalah is v boring, but incredibly easy.
Yes, BC we are over for Eid - leaving v v v early Thurs morning as we have tickets for the racing that evening - not bothering with the Liwa hotels as too far off the main route it seems.

Re: Liwa Hotel
No, this Thursday (4th Dec). Really looking forward to it - have been here but it doesn't have the same atmosphere as in Dubai.
Would be good to meet up - let me know if you will be there.
