No, I meant just being in the UK. It's just easier isn't it in so many ways? Sometimes, it's like you can just relax over her...Dubai's great and I know it rains a lot in the UK but I still think it's hard to beat in many respects

Yep its easier in so many ways and to be honest I loathe paying private uk adult dental prices for my 12 year old at the dentist out here, but its all small fry in the grand sceme of things but it makes all the differnence.

you seem to have a clear opinion about dubai from your other thread and you see it as being on the decline (in your words:'Frankly Dubai is not such a hot spot as it used to be in the 80-90') - i'm not sure how you could come to such a conclusion, seems to be pretty disconnected from reality. also you argue that you would be making more in india in the tech field than in dubai ('$5000 - $20,000 P.M')...and also that 'life takes a back seat in dubai'...not really a very positive outlook from your point of view...and still you seem to have decided to move here since your visitor visa is already being processed...a bit late to ask the question about quality of life...may i ask why you are actually moving here?

Good question - You see I am being sent to Dubai on a visit frm my present employer, we are setting up a small business unit there. I may be posted here for a extended period of time depending on the job at hand. I have also been offered a residential status if I am happy with the living conditions there. So we are in 2 minds as to what to do, we feel the change is good on the other hand we miss all the luxuries back home.

if it is only temporary, i'd say the change is good regardless. you are either going to discover a nice place woth living or come to appreciate more your home country...but at least you will gain a broader perspective on things. contrary to your statement i think that dubai is booming. you could look at any numbers and stats you can dig up and they would also indicate that dubai is booming. the reason why salaries might be going down as compared to before is also that: dubai is booming: more and more talent already working in dubai, more and more people wanting to come to dubai - resulting in a more competitive market decreasing the salary levels. but don't forget that income is tax free and should be compared to income after tax in one's home country.
