Will there be anymore coffee evenings anytime soon?
I noticed that there are weekly coffee mornings but we just arrived a couple of days ago and at this moment I have no child care for my 4-year old. REALLY need to get out with some adults and the only time I can do that at this moment is after my husband gets home from work or on the weekend.
If there are no actual planned coffee evenings would anyone be willing to take pity on me and get together in the evening or on the weekend?

I'm looking for Arabic Classes/lessons as well. I noticed the one post said "Readily available LG, some friends of mine are taking them now with homework too." I'm not sure what this means. I'm guessing LG means Language Group?
Can someone explain further or let me know of any other Arabic classes in Al Ain?

Coffee evenings were planned to be resurrected in early September when there are plenty of new people in town who'd like to make new friends! If there's more interest I'm sure they could be started up earlier. Otherwise I'm always up for meeting new people
Perhaps you don't know but there's a mums and tots group which gets together on Thursday mornings at Sunflower Nursery from 9 -11am. There's a playroom and a gym with trampoline! 15aed, tea/coffee and biscuits provided! The Tuesday coffee morning at the golf club is on at 10 am while Ramadan is on. You are welcome to bring children too although there are not many here at the moment.

Still not much news for me on the job front there in Al Ain but I continue to enjoy monitoring this site and appreciate all the information you are providing. When it comes to negotiating contracts can anyone advise on what an RN with Master's and many year s experience should be looking for (money and allowances)? All input most appreciated.

Wonder if anyone has the same problem as us? Our home in UK is left unoccupied while we are in UAE except for occasional weekend visits from my son - problem being most insurances will only insure for max 90days a year unoccupied! Anyone know of an insurance that will cover for longer periods?

I've checked and in fact they weren't; sorry for the false lead!. Never had to claim so didn't need to find out if it was a problem! We're currently putting our house up for rent so have been investigating and going to use NFU Mutual.
I've done a quick google (try homeowners insurance empty/unoccupied house) and in fact there are companies which specialise in unoccupied home insurance (mainly when house is pending sale/modification/new tenant). See this for some useful waffle: http://www.ukinsurancenet.com/unoccu...-insurance.asp
That should get you started and as they will tend to be smalled less known companies then check with Association of British Insurers (www.abi.org.uk) or British Insurance Brokers Association (www.biba.org.uk) that they are bona fide companies.
