"purchase a TIVO here in Canada"
It may not work. Television standards are different all over the world.

Re: Living in Al Ain
First post folks - I am getting very close to a job offer in Al Ain. My wife and I spent a week there after my assessment to ensure we would be happy in the area - and we will be - it seems to have everything a large town should have.
I have one question on sports. I currently race bicycles and wonder if there are any Al Ain bike clubs, local race organisation etc . Triathlon info would also be very welcome.
This is a great forum and a credit to all the contributors, making this a real hub for anyone out there or assessing a move - well done all.

Wow, my wife saw this post and thought that I had put it in. I am also moving to Al Ain in August. My wife will be working for UAEU. We will arrive sometime before 30 Aug.
I do triathlons, although you could not tell at the moment. I have been a couch potato for the last six months. I am looking forward to putting in more time training in Al Ain. There are several winter-time triathlons in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain.
It seems that cycling in the area is limited. Dubai has a cycling club that does some early morning rides and they also get access to the F1 race track once a week for an evening ride. To safely ride around Al Ain I think I might have to use a mountain bike for mid-week training and just use the tri-bike in Dubai on the track.
Dubai had a triathlon club, but the website seems to be suspended for some reason??? TriDubai is a professional triatlon team in the area. Also Team Abu Dhabi who was formed by Farris Al-Sultan (IM World Champ 2005) is close by. I understand that Farris actually lives in Al Ain.

Yes, I know it is hot. Very hot. Winter is the season for triathlon in this part of the world. That is when the races put on.
I am seeing 80-85f for the nightly low temps right now in Al Ain on weather underground. Mid day is definitely for the pool.

Hi Guys,
I am a poor pilot, just arrived in this great city.
I am also a great soccer / football fan, and was just wondering if anyone wants to cell their 32 inch flatscreen TV ?
If so, please do not hesitate to give me a call
Thanks,
Gerrit

Looking for a part time cleaner. I've seen a lot of ads for people willing to do cleaning part time, but I've also heard it's illegal to hire someone and we could get into trouble. Anybody know anything about this?
