Thanks Fezzer,
Given that the powers that be a looking to cut passenger number, this might be something of a criteria. If you can't weigh a bag and operate a printer you can't fly. My primary reason for having posed this question stems from my failure to understand why check-in at passenger terminals are clogged up with what appears to me to be air freight. Because of this when they travel they're taking boxes of things which look like freight. I do the same. Since my family left in I'm the process of emptying a house trip by trip. Boxes are lighter than a bag so you can get more in. I don't travel with any clothes at all seeing how I have some at my destination. I do around 50kg a trip which would be my economy allowance, or 90 kg if business. |

Many of us can operate a printer but do not own one. Buying one just for a very occasional bagtag would seem a little excessive! Similarly I do not own a set of scales!

One of my best purchases was a set of scales to weigh luggage. Can go right up to the limit. Never worry about weight checking in again.

I travel with maximum luggage every time, for various reasons, so your theory of personal possessions has failed I'm afraid. I just don't have a prin ter cos I don't need one, and I don't have scales cos I know I'm fat, its down to my medication, I don't need it confirmed by an inanimate object :D |

Printing in the office would work for the outbound leg - as long as the luggage is packed and weighed before one leaves work (which for our office can be several days between our last shift and actually flying!). However not so easy to pop back to the office to print a label for the return flight......
