Leaving in 4 days...
...for a new job in Morocco.
Luckily a friend will be able to look after my flat till the lease expires, so, apart from flat-related things, what do I need to do before I leave?
Bank account: I want to keep that open for a couple of months--any issues?
Visa cancellation will be handled by my current employer.
There must be other things...

don't forget to visit Casablanca's Irish pub at the East West hotel near the American embassy.
And the nightclub of the Sheraton if you feel 'lonely'

Just found this. Good luck with your new posting. Not sure but I always thought that UAE banks automatically freeze accounts once Exit Visas are issued. May be worth clearing it out before leaving as a precaution.

Not on exit, but on receipt of a payment marked 'final salary' from your employer. They'll unfreeze once they have confirmed there are are debts or large payments due. Timeframe etc varies by bank.
And congrats, good luck and we'll miss you xx

My ex-employer was kind enough not to mark my final payment 'final salary', which was nice of them.

Gutted to see you leaving BB, glad we had a beer and a catch up the other night. Thanks for your Dubai help. Be sure to keep in touch and keep posting here, good luck in Morocco!
Also, more gutted I didn't get to make a fee out of you! Close but no cigar.
