I'm earning basically the dirham equivalent of the gross salary I had in the UK, but of course in Dubai I get to keep all of it, so in terms of disposable income, moving here was equivalent to a fairly significant pay hike.
I don't get my housing paid for, but I get an annual interest-free housing loan from my company. After I've paid my rent each month, I still have more money left than I used to receive *after tax* in the UK.
Once our house in the UK is sold we will have no financial commitments other than than the ones we make here, and we can live comfortably (including saving) on my salary alone, which is not a million miles away from what Cammo is talking about. Once my wife gets a job, well, that's just more money to save and/or have fun with!
I guess it all depends on what you're used to. If you want the prestige apartment or massive villa with private pool and the top-of-the-line Merc or Porsche or Range Rover or whatever, then no, 25K a month won't do it... but then, if you're in that sort of league already, you'll be being offered a lot more than 25K!
