Default Jordan

Hi all,

Going to escape Dubai at the end of the month for a break away in Jordan, does anyone have any recommendations for reasonably priced and clean hotels in Amman?

Also any ideas on a good beach hotel in Aqaba?

Thanks

going there next month. staying at the kempinski which has an advance purchase rate so you get 20% off. an executive room cost me about 800dhs a night including the taxes but the basic rooms start from about 540dhs
look at www.booking.com for plenty of hotels to suit your budget

Jordan is one of those countries where it really pays to spend a bit more on your hotels because the gulf between the cheap and the mid-range is huge. It's not like Turkey where you can find loads of pensione-type places for 25 euros a night and get a clean room in a pleasant hotel.

In Amman I've stayed at a place called the Comfort Suites. If you google it, you will find it. I paid about 275 AED a night and got a basic room in a pleasant hotel with professional standards. It's in the fashionable part of Amman, near a ritzy mall. Amman is really not much to speak about so I would spend as little time as possible in the city.

Last time I was there used the Holiday Inn, nice hotel and too pricey.

In Amman, you got the Four Seasons, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn are some of the good hotels. Don't and I mean don't try to go for the cheaper versions. Just an advice.

As for Aqaba, via the hotel there is reliable trips with groups to petra, aqaba, dead sea, wadi rum etc... And usually they don't exceed 50-100dinar per person (250-500Dirhams).

Let me know if you need any more info.

I've stayed at the Sheraton a few times, a nice clean hotel. The gym is a bit small but the pool is good.

Yes, I'll second that. Can't remember how much we paid - something is telling me about GBP100 per night 5 years ago.

In Aqaba we stayed at the Movenpick which is a fab location - def go for a room at the front tho.

HTH

Yes I agree with this. The Movenpick was prime location. We went at Eid and there wasn't much choice for accommodation so we ended up at the Golden Tulip which was only 3 Star but int was great. We had a car so it was only a 10 minute drive to Petra. The Jordanian people are lovely BTW!!
